Happy Diwali

If you live in Sunnyvale, you are probably aware that today was the start of the Indian festival of Diwali. The restaurants are lighted up and kids are wearing new traditional clothes. I've had a recipe for GF naan I've wanted to try so it seemed like a good idea in honor of the holiday.

NASA photo of India on first night of Diwali. It isn't called the "festival of lights" for nothing.

The key to GF cooking is finding a good flour mixture. I like the Gluten-Free Pantry brand. The naan was really easy to make and very tasty. Even Louis ate some.

I was going to make chicken korma to go with the naan but didn't have any chicken so I used beef instead. I know using beef goes against Hinduism but I was making the WASP version. It still tasted really good.

Last week was the letter "D" week in preschool so this Diwali craft was perfect.

  2. What a bright, talented, and educated daughter-in-law I have! I wouldnt know my Diwali from my Kwanza, but you not only know what it is, but how to cook for it. Can you send me a taste of it over the internet? Do my grandkids have new clothes to wear for their Diwali celebration? I wouldnt want them getting left out...
