Tootsie

Today is the anniversary of the invention of the Tootsie Roll in 1896. I could eat a bag of those in one sitting.

The candy was named after the inventor's daughter whose nickname was "Tootsie." The Tootsie Pop did not come along until the 1930's and the candy was included the rations for soldiers in WW II because it stayed fresh for a long time even under extreme temperature conditions.

  1. Perhaps it's because it's the Oscar season, but when I saw the title of this post in my Google Reader, I half-expected to see Dad modeling Sarah's clothes. I'm glad I was wrong. Regarding what the post was REALLY about, I still have a bank that I saved from a Tootsie Roll sale in my junior high days

  2. I'd totally forgotten about those tootsie roll banks! That's a blast from the past.

And there is an infamous video of Louis is a dress from high school but seems to have gotten lost.
