Feeling Thankful

As you can see below, my husband is a very proud papa. It reminds me everyday of how extremely lucky we are to have two, happy, healthy babies. With twins, that positive line on a pregnancy test doesn't automatically mean you will be taking home babies in nine months (it also doesn't mean that with a single baby either). There can be complications and getting to twelve weeks doesn't mean you are "out of the woods" yet. As things get more crowded in there, complications can develop. With identicals there is the fear of TTTS. And with twins there can be a greater risk of placental abrasion and pre term labor. I don't mean to be all depressing but I'm truly thankful that we were so blessed. One friend lost her twins to TTTS at 20 weeks just a month after ours were born. Another recently lost her twins at 21 weeks. She had been told she would never bear children due to childhood cancer but due to the miracle of medical technology was pregnant. So I keep these women in my prayers and hug my babies a little tighter.
